This page will provide the basics about becoming a Convention Delegate or running for a position in the Hawaii Republican Party. If you decide to become a Delegate or run for a Party position, please be sure to contact us by filling out this form so we can communicate and coordinate with you:

INTERESTED IN BECOMING A
CONVENTION DELEGATE?

Convention delegates are elected during Precinct/District election meetings (PEMs/DEMs) and will be eligible to attend County and/or State Conventions to vote for future Party leaders. Alternates are also elected who are individuals who can take a delegate's place if they are unable to make it to the convention(s).

There are over 1000 delegate positions available (allocated at the precinct level) and we have only seen about 300 confirmed and show up to State Conventions in recent years, so most likely you will be able to become a delegate if would like to.

Here are the steps and requirements:

  1. You must be a Party member registered in the Party's database (at least 10 days prior to the PEM)

  2. You need to attend the PEM/DEM between February 1-14 (at a location in your district) to get elected as a Delegate (or alternate)

  3. You should plan to attend the County and/or State Conventions to vote for Party leadership. The State convention has a $75 convention fee and you are required to organize and fund your own travel and accommodation (as needed) to Kauai. County convention fees will be determined by County.

Please visit the HRP ELECTIONS page for more details about dates, times, locations and logistics of the PEMs/ DEMs and Conventions.
